Leukemia Cup Regatta 2016

Sailors set sail for the Leukemia Cup Regatta on Saturday, May 21, 2016. Over 150 participants enjoyed a little friendly competition on Lake St. Clair by participating in the Leukemia Cup Regatta. 200+ supporters & sailors enjoyed a silent auction, dinner & dancing after the race.

Since its inception, the Leukemia Cup Regatta has raised millions of dollars for lifesaving research and patient services, bringing help and hope to patients and their families. As of June 6, 2016, Lake St. Clair Leukemia Cup Regatta has raised $77,000+.

Nearly 1,012,533 Americans currently battle blood cancers. Every three minutes, someone is diagnosed.

So, let me tell you a story about my friend – Brian Sullivan.

Though I didn’t know until he passed away, at a very young age of 55, in August 2009 of Leukemia, but he had a degree in Human Resources. He was a Human Resources – NIGHT MARE. Denis, my husband, can attest to this, since he had to deal with his, Brian’s, antics on a daily bases at Ford Motor Company, while we were in China.

Brian was the life of EVERY party. His family would say, that is all fine and good, Mary…….but you didn’t have to go home with him at the end of a night. Correct. Thank God, I didn’t. But he made me laugh – ALWAYS. He always mocked my accent. As most of you know – I LOVE TO DANCE. He was a dancing machine. Known throughout the world – to dance on top of tables.

Carol, Brian’s wife and her family are from the Milford area. Carol’s mom owned a horse farm in the area.

We cannot bring Brian back…. .

BUT proud that Real Estate One Charitable Foundation is a Silver Sponsor for 2016 Leukemia Cup Regatta and gives .50 cents on every dollar raised for the Leukemia Cup.
